Insomnium is a Finnish melodic death metal band from Joensuu. They are influenced by doom metal, playing songs about sorrow, death and loss. They also incorporate elements of northern folk music and symphonic music into their sound.

Linkin Park is an American rock band from Agoura Hills, California. Since its formation in 1996, the band has sold more than 50 million albums and won two Grammy Awards.

It achieved mainstream success with its debut album, Hybrid Theory, which was certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2005.

Its following studio album, Meteora, continued the band’s success, topping the Billboard 200’s album charts in 2003, and was followed by extensive touring and charity work around the world.

In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth greatest band of the music video era.

Having adapted the nu metal and rap rock genres to a radio-friendly yet densely-layered style in Hybrid Theory and Meteora, the band explored other genres in their next studio album, Minutes to Midnight.

The album topped the Billboard charts and had the third best debut week of any album that year.

They have also collaborated with several other artists, most notably with rapper Jay-Z in their mashup album Collision Course, and many others on Reanimation.

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins (born 5 May 1988 in Enfield, North London), known professionally as Adele, is an English rhythm and blues and soul singer and songwriter. Adele has described her musical style as “heartbroken soul.” She is the first recipient of the BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice, which was given to artists who, at the time, had yet to release an album. She has noted American jazz and blues singers Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald as influences.

Adele debuted at number one with her Mercury Prize-nominated debut album 19 on the UK album chart; the album has since been certified platinum with sales of more than 500,000 copies in the UK and over 1,200,000 worldwide. After the album peaked at #54 on the Billboard 200 chart on 8 July, 2008 (and #36 on the magazine’s “Top Heatseekers” chart) Adele performed before more than 17 million television viewers on Saturday Night Live, leading to a very strong showing on a couple of notable download charts, and leading the album to leap from #46 to #11 on the official chart. In 2009, Adele won two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance

Stefani Germanotta (born March 20, 1986), best known by her stage name Lady GaGa, is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She was born and grew up in Manhattan, where she attended private school at Convent of the Sacred Heart and later studied at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. At age 20, she began working for Interscope Records as a songwriter, penning songs for pop acts such as the Pussycat Dolls. She has been influenced by rockers such as David Bowie and Queen as well as ’80s pop singers such as Madonna and Michael Jackson.

In 2008, GaGa released her debut album, The Fame, which she explained was “about how anyone can feel famous”. To date, the album spawned the hit singles “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”, the former of which was nominated for a Best Dance Recording Grammy Award.
